We are pleased to announce the following appointments within our Clan and Society, those being: Clan Commissioner for the United Kingdom and Deputy Commissioner for the United States of America.
The first appointee is Gregory Carruthers, who will join the ranks of the Society’s other Regional Commissioners, all of whom are appointed by the Chief at the recommendation of the Convenor, Michael Carruthers, FSAScot and hold a seat on the Chief’s High Council. They now include;
- Ian Carruthers (Regional Commissioner – Africa)
- Craig Carrothers-Monument, FSAScot (Regional Commissioner – Australasia)
- Laurie Carruthers Caron, FSAScot (Regional Commissioner – Canada)
- Cécilia Mitchell-Carruthers, (Regional Commissioner – Europe)
- Gregory Carruthers, (Regional Commissioner – United Kingdom)
- Dana Caruthers Norton, FSAScot (Regional Commissioner – United States of America)
The Commissioners are the legal representatives of both the Chief in their regions and the Society. They function under the guidance of the Convenor and are there to promote the Carruthers name within their assigned areas.
Regional Commissioner United Kingdom
As well as a strong background in IT, Greg has studied law, leadership and management and is currently undergoing post graduate studies in genealogy. Interested in sports, particularily football, he is a highly competent photographer and as a statistician, currently works as a member of the management team of a large supermarket chain here in the UK.
Deputy Commissioner United States of America
We have further appointed a Deputy Commissioner for the USA, to assist Dana in her duties. Mark Carruthers Dunning, is also an IT professional who has worked with the US State Department for a number of years. A highly decorated combat Veteran with over 24 years in the United States Airforce who retired as a Technical Sergeant, he holds a Batchelor degree from Hanover College, Indiana.
The Deputy Commissioner’s role is to assist and work with the Regional Commissioner in their duties. They are appointed by the Convenor, with the agreement of the Regional Commissioner.
Both appointees are of the highest calibre and with their own skill sets, bring a wealth of experience to our evergrowing family.
Welcome both to the team and although I will not be involved directly, and Im always here to advise, I’m sure our paths will cross on many future occasions.
