Join the Clan Society

Founded on a Royal Charter to Holmains in 1755, the Society has been working since 2007 to have our first Chief confirmed since 1809. We succeeded on the 19th of August 2019, when Dr Simon Peter Carruthers of Holmains (known as Peter) was confirmed Chief of the Name and Arms of Carruthers by the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh, Scotland.

We have regional groups internationally headed by our Regional Clan Commissioners all appointed by our Chief who is also the Society’s Honorary President, working on your behalf.

Being authorised by our Chief to represent our clan and family worldwide we are in membership of and have access to the newsletters of the Scottish Australian Heritage Council (SAHC), the Clans and Scottish Societies of Canada (CASSOC), the Council of Scottish Clans and Associations (CASSOC) in the US and through the Convenor, the Royal Celtic Society (RCS) Scotland.

We are a not-for-profit group, which is based in Scotland, with access to both genealogy and yDNA testing. Therefore the accuracy of our history and our heritage is extremely important to us.

We would therefore ask that you offer your support, by joining our Society and allowing us to continuing doing the good works on your behalf, and that of your children going forward.
