Clan Carruthers

CLAN & FAMILY CARRUTHERS: Today is the Day.

Dr Simon Peter Carruthers, Chief.

This is just a brief note to say that after today, the Chief of the Name and Arms of Carruthers, Dr Simon Peter Carruthers, confirmed in 2019 by the Lord Lyon on behalf of the Sovereign to bear the chiefly arms of Carruthers, will be inaugurated as Chief of Carruthers.

His lineage and right to hold the title goes back as far as our records and he wears it well.

He will officially receive his Letters Patent from Sir Crispin Agnew of Lochnaw, Chief of Clan Agnew and a senior representative of the Lord Lyon. The Inauguration will be conducted by the newly appointed family Shennachie, after which the Chief will make appointments into his Household and onto his Council.

The Speakers at the Chief’s celebratory dinner are Dr George Carruthers, Mr Steve Colburn and Mr Ross McEwen.

After dinner, the ceilidh will finish off the day.

My understanding is that the ceremony will be filmed and put up on our website.

For those who cannot attend, you will be missed and remain in our hearts, to those who are here, welcome.

This is the final piece in the journey that I began in 2007, and my personal goal to have a Chief in place and Carruthers fully recognised internationally as a Scottish clan and family, will have been achieved after today.

I therefore thank you all for the endorsement that you have given both myself and the process to get where we are today and for the support that I have received personally through the many years that I have worked as your Convenor.

God Bless you all, Carruthers have arrived.

Dr George Carruthers FSA Scot

Convenor

Promptus et Fidelis
