Saturday 24th. August…… ‘Gathering of the Clans’, Everholm Sports Track, Annan, Dumfriesshire.

Pipe Bands, Clanadonia tribal drum & pipe band, Teviotdale Steel Bonnets, The Time Bandits, Spectrum, Highland & Scottish Country Dancing, Advice on how to trace your ancestors & much more


GATHERING ITINERARY (Incorporating the Annan Festival)

Saturday 24th August

As well as trade stands, booths, clan tents and refreshments – Cost £5 entry

A manned Carruthers tent will be there to offer advice on the clan and family, our history culture and our heritage.

 

12.30pm.     Led by Annan Pipe Band the Chiefs or their representatives will parade in, followed by the South West Pipes & Drums Youth Academy  at the rear.

12.45pm      Joint Chiefs of the Day officially open the Gathering. (Peter Carruthers of Holmains, Chief of Carruthers is a Joint Chief)

1.00pm       Annan Pipe Band Performing (World Pipe Band Champions Gd2)

1.20pm        Highland Dancing on the centre stage

1.45pm        Clanadonia on the centre stage (Clanadonia are the greatest tribal drum and pipe band to come out of Glasgow, Scotland. Their music, passion, culture, history, people and and their ancestral bloodlines are all bonded within their performance and repertoire)

2.05pm        Spectrum -centre stage 

2.30pm        Teviotdale Steel Bonnets – centre stage,  Highland Games begins

3.00pm        South West Academy Youth Pipes & Drums

3.25pm        Scottish Country Dancing -stage

3.45pm        Clanadonia – stage

4.10pm        Spectrum – stage

4.30pm        Both Pipe Bands play and leave the arena


  24th August, Carruthers Gathering – Annan Distillery – Cost to include meal and Cèilidh £65

Carruthers and guests need to be assembled and seated at the venue at the Annan Distillery by 4:00 pm. It is approx 10 minutes walk from the Festival.

4.00pm               Inauguration Ceremony of Dr Simon Peter Carruthers of Holmains, Chief of the border clan and family of Carruthers         

5.15pm                Break before speakers (15 minute talks with 5 min Q+A’s)   

5.30pm               Talk: Brief  synopsis of our origins and history – Dr G Carruthers FSA Scot, Armiger (CCS-Convenor)

5.50pm               Talk: DNA update – Mr Steve Colburn (Director, Head of Carruthers DNA Research

6.10pm               Talk: The Carruthers Seraphim – Dr Peter Carruthers, Armiger (Clan Chief)

6.30pm               Talk: Chiefs and clans in the 21st Century – Mr Ross McEwan L.L.M, FSA Scot, Armiger (Officer of Clan McEwen, member of the Council of the Royal Stuart Society, Committee Member of the Heraldry Society,Scotland 

6.50pm               Talk: The Chief’s crest, the Carruthers Seraphim – Dr Peter Carruthers (Chief)

7.00pm               Dinner

9.00pm              Cèilidh
