This message is posted at the behest of the Chief of the Name and Arms of CARRUTHERS, Dr Peter CARRUTHERS of Holmains, on behalf of the Convenor of the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs, of which CARRUTHERS are hereditary members.
Dear Chiefs and Commanders,
I am writing to let you know of the various actions taken to express SCSC condolences on the death of Her late Majesty The Queen.
I have written to HM The King on behalf of the Standing Council.
Alex Leslie, Vice Convenor has put up a message, earlier this week, at the head of the SCSC website. (See above)
At the initiative of Rupert Irving of Bonshaw, and with the great assistance of Angus Maclaine yr. of Lochbuie, I have arranged for a notice expressing SCSC condolences to be placed in The Scotsman. This will appear in a special tribute edition of the paper to be published on 20 September.
Attached is the text of that message formatted for ease of distribution on social media for those of you who wish to circulate it on your own channels to your respective clan and family societies and associations. There are alternative versions (only slightly differing) for you to choose between, according to your preference.
With best wishes,
Donald MacLaren of MacLaren
